Disrupted Peace

I faintly hear the TV as I lightly sleep on the sofa, my arm tucked under my head as I lie on my side, Leon's hoodie keeps me warm as I wait for him to come home from work. All is peaceful as usual until raised voices stir me out of my tranquility. My eyes open as I sit up, my head tilts towards the sound, I'm wondering if I actually heard it.

"Just leave!" I hear Luce, my neighbour who's slightly older than me, shout desperately. I frown, quickly put on my shoes then venture outside of my apartment and straight into the commotion.

Her door is half open as she stands behind it, gripping it for dear life as her ex intimidatingly stands there staring down, his arms crossed. "Please, I already told you I don't want to see you again." Luce cries, tears fall from her eyes.

Her ex shakes his head and begins forward as if to force himself in. I kick into action immediately, calling out as I walk forward. "Hey! You heard her, she doesn't want you here."

Luce's frightened eyes dart to me before she grabs her phone and begins dialing presumably the police. Her ex begins to turn to me, and once closer I now see he's definitely been drinking. "Leave it bitch, it's none of your concern." He slurs, before flipping me off. He begins to turn back to Luce but I get his attention again, knowing he'll get madder if he sees her on the phone.

"No, I'm not leaving Luce alone with you, especially when you're acting like an asshole." I say defiantly. Her ex prowls to me as I back up into the wall, his hand raises so before he can do anything I kick him where it hurts before then throwing a right hook across his jaw, knocking him to the side.

Her ex stumbles but doesn't fall, once he turns back to me his eyes are murderous. I look to Luce who is stood in shock, but her hands gesture for me to come to her. I do. With milliseconds to spare I duck under her ex's arm and rush into her apartment just before he turns and slams his fist to the door. We both stand still, watching the rattle and clinging to each other in fear.

Voices sound from outside and we hear a scuffle before there's a light knock. Luce opens it to reveal some officers from the RPD. We're taken into the station whislt her ex is arrested. My eyes scan the station as we head to the interrogation room together to wait, but I don't see my boyfriend Leon.

"Aren't you the rookie's girl?" An officer asks before I tell my statement. I nod, politely smiling as he arches a brow and gives me an odd look. He takes my statement before leading me outside to sit and wait for Luce.

My knee bounces nervously as I do, my eyes stick to the floor as panic finally consumes me. It's been an eventful night, and I'm really hoping her ex gets charged with something, he's dangerous. "Y/N?! What the hell?" Leon calls out confused.

My head swivels to the side as I see him rush to me, jogging down the corridor before he wraps his arms around me. I cling to him, explaining everything as he cups my cheeks and furrows his brows. "Don't worry, you'll be okay. Is our neighbour alright?" He asks.

I nod, taking a deep breath as he sits on the chair beside mine, his fingers link with mine. "Yeah, just a bit scared. Do you think we can go soon? My head is killing me." I murmur, rubbing my forehead at the migraine there.

He nods, kissing my head before standing. Just in time Luce and another officer step out of the room, both much more relaxed than before. "It's all done now, you're free to go and don't worry, that man won't bother you again."

Luce nods as my shoulders slump. "My shift ends in five, if you can wait I can take you both home." Leon smiles, I nod as Luce mumbles a "Please."

Luce and I head outside to wait for Leon until she stops me with a hand on my shoulder. "I'm sorry I dragged you into this, thank you for the help though."

I give her a small smile, "It's okay, I wouldn't have done nothing." Not long after Leon's Jeep appears and we get in and go home. Once Leon and I finally get into our apartment his arms wrap around me. He lets out a shuddery breath as I close my eyes, savouring his warmth.

"Seeing you at the station was scarier than I thought it would be, I was so worried." He softly mumbles, stroking my hair. I nod and look up, cupping his jaw.

"I'm okay, besides a visit to your work was well overdue." I softly laugh, earning a smile from Leon. He wraps an arm around my shoulders and guides me to the bedroom, where we put our pyjamas on and finally cuddle together.
