"I still wish you were gonna be home for Christmas, it's too quiet in this apartment without your terribe jokes. Plus I miss your hugs." I sadly say, rolling onto my stomach as I balance the phone in my hand. Leon nods, watching my pout as he glances behind him at some noise I can't hear.

"Yeah, I'm missing you too honey, I promise when I get back I'll give you all the hugs you want and more." Leon smiles, then it grows, "What does one Christmas tree say to the other?"

Reluctantly my lips tilt, I shrug a shoulder then wait a few seconds for the delay thanks to our dodgy Internet connection. "Lighten up." Leon winks, I burst out laughing, the joke was terrible but somehow when they come out of his mouth they're amusing, but I mostly love the fact he does it to show he cares, like some strange act of love.

"God, now I really want you here for Christmas." I sigh when my laughter fades. Leon's smile slips, as if he too wants to be here with me rather than scoping out some bad guy on the other side of the world. I look at the time, seeing it's late, moments later a yawn escapes my lips. "I should let you get on with your thing." I mumble, heart protesting but logic wins out.

"I swear I'll be home before you know it. Hey, maybe if you write a note to Santa I'll be able to finish up early and you'll get your Christmas wish?" Leon teases, blue eyes crinkling before he looks away from the camera. "I love you, be safe and happy, okay?" With that the call ends before I can even say goodbye.

Tears fill my eyes as I lie there alone, wanting Leon with me more than anything. Despite the childishness of it, I stand and rip a page from my notebook, then head to the living room and write a small letter to father Christmas, begging for Leon's mission to go well and for him to come home early, I know it's pointless but it helps me feel better. I fold it and set it on the coffee table, ready for a couple of nights time if the bearded man pays me a visit.

Christmas Eve Night

I toss and turn, in and out of sleep. My eyes spring open as a loud jingle stirs me from my sleep, but then thinking it was my dreams I lie down and get comfy again. Another noise comes from the living room, and this time I know it's real. Grabbing a knife Leon left me a few months ago, I slip out of bed and head to investigate, hoping I don't have to kill Santa Claus. I round the corner, freezing when I see a dark figure sat on the sofa, letter in hand, only the faint glow of the moonlight allows them to read the contents.

"Hello?" I whisper, feeling a sense of shock. Is this actually Father fucking Christmas?

"Baby?" A familiar voice warmly says. My eyes widen, I flick on the light to reveal Leon sat there, donning a Santa hat, but I ignore that for now. I squeal, sprinting forward and tackling him on the sofa, body instantly relaxing as his strong arms wrap around me, embracing me like a second skin.

"You're home! Why didn't you tell me you were coming back early?" I ask, kissing his neck, cheek and head as he chuckles and sits up, pulling me onto his lap.

"I wanted to surprise you. My mission went really well and I got it all done early, it was actually kinda weird." He replies, a genuine look of confusion on his face. I refuse to believe in real Christmas miracles, but this is pretty damn coincidental.

"Is that what this is all about?" I grin, flicking his red Santa hat as he nuzzles his face into my neck, breathing me in. He nods, then my eyes dart to the Christmas tree where there are more presents than before.

"Yeah, I was gonna surprise you. Besides, good girls get presents, and I think you've been very good this year." Leon smirks, looking up as I lean down and press a kiss to his lips.

"That sounds so much dirtier than you intended," I snort as Leon stands with me in his arms, "but you're right. Don't forget good boys get gifts too." I whisper. Leon's breath hitches as he walks us to the bedroom, gently placing me on the bed.

"Merry Christmas, my strong, beautiful woman." Leon murmurs.

"Merry Christmas Leon." I whisper in reply.
