Leon's fingers link with mine as he pins me down on the blanket, his lips devour mine hungrily under the starry sky as we spend our final night together. Even at 16, we're madly in love but fated to be apart. He's leaving tomorrow, heading off to another city where he can better study and achieve his dreams, leaving me alone.

Tears form in my eyes as I wrap my arms around him, he notices the change in me and stops kissing to pull back, searching my face as he smooths a hand over my wet cheek. I sniffle, sit up and bring my knees to my chest, avoiding his eyes as he sighs, fisting the blanket. "I hate this." He mumbles, I nod in reply. I'd thought about begging him to stay, but I'm not that selfish and want him to be happy.

"It's okay, you're doing the right thing." I weakly say, wiping my eyes with the back of my hand and giving Leon a weak smile. He huffs shaking his head, so I lean forward and put a comforting hand on his leg.

"I'm making you cry, there's nothing right about that." He says, meeting my eyes. His face falls, he lets out another heavy sigh and runs a hand over his face. I lean into him, shoulders relaxing as he wraps an arm around my shoulders, both of us gaze up at the sky.

"Maybe it'll all be okay," I begin, "we might find each other again one day, at a time where we have a chance and nothing can pull us apart."

Leon sadly smiles down at me, nodding before kissing my temple gently. We sit in silence for the rest of our time together, there's nothing else to be said...

******Six years later******

I huff as I place down the last box of things in my new apartment. The buzz of the refrigerator fills the silence. Sighing I close the door and begin to adventure around. It's not fancy or exactly big, but it's a fresh start after finally moving out of town and getting my new job here in Raccoon City.

I smile, flopping onto the bed for a few minutes before getting back up to unpack and make this place feel like home. Whilst baking a cake to make the place smell nice I hear my neighbour come back home. A rush of nerves skim through me, I don't know who they are, or what they're like. I'm honestly praying they're friendly and reasonable, the last thing I want is a party animal next door. Once the cake is done a ridiculous idea comes to mind, I bite my lip before nodding to myself and wrapping up some cake.

Nervously I shuffle to my neighbours door, cake in hand and anxiety through the roof, but I force myself to knock and introduce myself, I'd rather get it over and done with instead of building ideas in my head. I wait a few moments, wondering if they'll even open, then once the door finally swings open, my eyes bulge out of my head.

"No way." Leon says dumbstruck, watching me with the same flabbergasted expression. When he takes a step forward I come back to reality. My eyes roam him up and down, noticing how he's dressed in a police uniform, I meet those familiar blue eyes again.

"Hey neighbour." I finally get out, before stepping forward and wrapping my arms around him. It's forward but thankfully Leon doesn't mind, his arms pull me closer to him as his breath tickles my ear, he chuckles as I let out a ragged breath.

"What are you doing here? This is insane." He cheerfully says as I pull back, passing him the slightly squashed cake.

"I'm moving here. Well technically I've already moved here. Next door. This is unbelievable, I never thought I'd see you again! What are the chances?!" I say.

Leon nods, both of us still in shock. "The universe works in weird ways." He shrugs, running a hand through his hair. I let out a small laugh as I shuffle my feet, the chemistry between us still strong.

"I'm about to head to work, but...would you like to come over after? We could order takeout and catch up?" He asks, I immediately accept and head back to my own apartment on cloud nine. I slump onto my sofa, happy tears spill from my eyes as I laugh to myself, wondering if fate is fucking with me.

An agonisingly long time passes as I do some decorating, then I hear a knock at my door. I rush to it, opening up to see a now casually dressed Leon standing there with a bunch of flowers. He shyly passes them to me with a smile. "Welcome home. Well to your new home." He says, looking over my shoulder into my apartment with a look of approval.

We chat for a bit as I put the flowers in the sink for now, then we head to his place where we order some food, Leon insists on paying which I reluctantly allow. We sit on the sofa, eating and finally catching up. He tells me about the police training and his job as an officer, he tells me about the city and asks all about what I've been up to. We spend hours speaking and having the occasional glass of cheap wine, until finally the night begins to come to a close.

I begin to stand but Leon catches my hand, giving me that same look he always used to when he wanted to kiss me. I pause, waiting for further confirmation, when his eyes dart to my lips I know, and so I press my lips to his, leaning back as Leon ferociously kisses me. I'm shook by the confidence of his lips, but I'm far from complaining. Leon's body hovers over mine as I wrap my arms around his neck, deepening the already passionate kiss.

"I forgot how much I love kissing you, but I never forgot how much I love you." Leon breathlessly whispers as his nose brushes mine. I smile, relieved our feelings are still the same.

"I love you too Leon, maybe this is our time?" I whisper back, referring to some of the last words we said to each other. He grins, nodding before diving back in to kiss me.
