Neverland is home to lost boys like me, and lost boys like me are free...

STORYTIME!

Patton hugged his knees, sitting in his bedroom. The stars and street lamps lit up everything via his window, and even so he could barely see anything. Big Ben was pretty much the only thing in the entire room he could see the details of, and it wasn't even in his room.

Patton felt so lost. He didn't have his parents to love him. His older brother moved out for school. The family dog died. Patton officially had nobody anymore. He was a small little lost boy. He didn't know what to do. He hung his head in defeat, crying into his knees. It was all he could do. Poor little Patton.

He lifted his head when he heard a knock. He looked over towards the door, but a louder knock was heard from behind him. The window? Weakly, the seven year old boy walked to the window and peered through it. He couldn't see anything. What had knocked on his window?

He turned around to go back to his crying corner when the knock occurred once more. Curiouser and Curiouser. Patton opened the window just to see whatever the noise was, and suddenly his room was filled with a wonderous pale yellow light.

Patton stumbled backwards, falling on his bum. He heard the window close and a little jingle bell ring. With stars in his eyes, a boy just about his age dressed in all bold red with a fairy lady on his shoulder was there, emitting the beautiful light. His room was brightened and Patton rubbed his eyes to adjust better.

He didn't have his glasses, so everything was blurry. The new boy reached over to his nightstand and handed him his glasses. Patton put them on and saw the boy's face. He looked like that boy he read in his storybooks. What was his name? Peter Pan? The boy adorned in red held out his hand.

"Hello, Lost Boy. My name is Roman Prince. This is little Valerie. I'm here to take you away to Foreverland."

Foreverland? That sounded a lot like Neverland. And why did he call him Lost Boy? Maybe that was the most accurate thing to call him. Patton sniffled and took Roman's extended hand, letting him bring him to his feet.

Patton heard the little fingle bell trickle in the air ad little Valerie fluttered around him, inspecting him in a way. Patton weakly smiled through his tear stained face, dried and scared with melancholy. Valerie pouted and fluttered back to Roman, whispering something in his ear. Roman nodded and took Patton's hands back into his own.

"What's your name, Lost Boy?"

"Patton. My name is Patton."

Roman nodded to himself, taking the name into account. Patton looked back out the window, which had magically closed behind Roman. More little bells sounded in the air as Valerie littered to the window and pushed it open with her microscopic hands. She smiled and cheered with little jingles once the task was complete. Little Valerie was a cute little pixie.

"Come with me, Patton. It's time to transform you from a Lost Boy to a Found Boy."

Before Patton knew it, Roman was dragging him behind him by the wrist and running towards the window. Patton's room wasn't very big, so they were jumping out fo the window in seconds. Patron didn't scream. He knew better than to scream. He closed his eyes and braced for pain.

However pain never came. Patton opened his eyes and he was staring at the concrete, fifty meters above ground. He helped and hung onto Roman out of fear. He was deathly afraid of heights. Roman laughed and patted his head, running his hand through his hair a little bit. Patton hadn't noticed the pixie dust keeping them from falling to their doom.

"Don't worry, Lost Boy. Valerie's Pixie Dust allows us to fly. Come along, we have a trip to Big Ben."

Roman lead his hand and had him hop up a few times before taking a giant leap. Patton started laughing. He was swimming In the sky. For the first time in a long, long while Patton smiled. He laughed. He was having fun. He'd almost forgotten what the word even meant.

Roman smiled and Valerie lead the way, a trail of pale yellow glittery pixie dust leading the way to Big Ben. Patton was dorkily swimming through the air, wearing his pajamas and glasses askew. Roman, a master at flying, held his hand the entire way to Big Ben. Once they've gotten there, Valerie pushed in a panel. However before going in, Patton looked back at London. It's so pretty at night.

"It's so pretty..."

He mumbled out, his voice raspy and broken from crying and laughing so much. Roman's heart melted and he looked out at the sight too. Streetlights, Big Ben, windowlights... Black was brought to life by mustard yellow. This was the nighttime of London. Roman smiled, looking back at Patton.

"Yes it is. But Foreverland awaits, Lost Boy. I promise the sun on the sea will be much prettier than this silly city would be. And you will be well loved there."

Loved? Patton wondered what that felt like. He had never felt that before. Maybe it was a lot like laughing like he was before. Patton looked away from the only home he'd known, even though the city had done nothing more than neglect him. Roman's eyes were sparkling and Valerie was nodding excitedly.

"Loved? What does that feel like?"

Roman's heart shattered. Patton was genuinely confused. Patton looked over at the missing panel of Big Ben. Was there  portal on the other side that led to this Foreverland? What was in Foreverland? The anticipation was exciting him. He was smiling, but Roman began to frown. Why?

"You really are a Lost Boy... Have you ever been held or kissed goodnight?"

Patton shook his head. He'd heard a few kids in primary school talk about their mothers fondly like that or how their fathers would ruffle their hair and tell them that they're proud of them. Patton never had that. Maybe that's why he didn't know what being loved was. He never really experienced it. Poor little Patton...

Roman frowned very intensely. Valerie crossed her arms and nodded at Roman. He knew exactly what to do. Roman took Patton and kissed his forehead, enveloping him in an embrace. He heard Patton gasp, but Roman gripped him tight. He vowed right then and there that Patton would be a very loved Found Boy once they get to Foreverland.

Patton felt really warm. He felt like he wanted to cry again. But in a good way this time? It was confusing. It was conflicting. But it was... nice? Patton didn't know what else to do but to stand there, emotionally vaunerable. Big Ben began to ring out a single chime for one in the morning behind them.

"Come on. Let's go home, Patton. We will show you all the love in the world there."

Roman took Patton's hand and led him through the panel, Valerie fluttering behind them. In the center of the clock is a pastel pink portal that leads all children in need to Foreverland. There, Patton can finally be loved as he deserves. And forever be a child. A loved  child.

Because every child deserves to be loved.
