"Maya, baby you have to come out of there sometime." Katy spoke through the door softly. Maya knew one day she would experience her first heart brake over a guy, she just never really knew how much it would hurt.

"Please leave me alone." Maya sobbed out to her mom. Katy sighed from the other side of the door.

"Alright. I'm here if you want to talk."  With that she hesitantly left her daughter to sob her heart out over a guy that everyone warned her about.

At first Maya agreed to go out with him so she could get over Josh, but then after a while she really started to fall for him. Who is he you might wonder? Michael Gadder, the schools biggest player. Everyone told her not to. Riley , Farkle, Lucas, even some kids she had never met before in her school had come up to her and warned her about Michael's intentions. Maya didn't listen to them for two reasons. She was dead set on getting over Josh and she felt lonely. Farkle had Smackle, Zay had this girl Marisa that he had met earlier that year and Riley and Lucas had each other. She was always the 3rd wheel with everyone... She hated it.

It was their one year anniversary when Michael called and told her he was "sick" and that he couldn't make it to their date Maya had been planning for weeks. Maya of course was disappointed but she wasn't mad at Michael for breaking the date, that was, until she found out why he had truly broke the date.

"Peaches?" Riley's soft voice came from the door. Maya lifted her head until from her pillow and looked at her closed room door. "Maya let me in." Riley demanded softly. Maya wiped her eyes and got up from the bed to go and open the door. As soon as she saw Riley's face Maya lost it, falling right into Riley's awaiting arms. "Oh Maya so sorry." Riley cried with her as she pulled Maya into the room and closed the door.

"He cheated. I can't believe he cheated!" Maya sobbed some more into Riley's shoulder as her best friend just held her. Riley soothed Maya by rubbing circles on her back.

"I'm so so sorry Maya. I'm so sorry." Riley cried as they both held each other. Maya hated her self, hated her self for the fact that she had completely ignored her best friends just so she could get over the guy that she was undoubtedly in love with.

"I am such an idiot." Maya mumbled as she pulled back from Riley so she could see her.

"Your not an idiot, Maya. You're hurt." Riley said as she smoothed the hair out of Maya's face. "Look I know they say that your best friend is what you usually need when it comes to heart brake, but I think I know someone who could help better than I ever could." Just then the girls snapped their heads to Maya's window as they heard a light tapping noise on it. Outside on the fire escape was a very concerned/angry looking Josh.

"What's he doing here?" Maya asked as she tried to wipe more tears away. Riley smiled sympathetically.

"I called him. I thought it would be a good idea for you two to talk." Riley said as Maya shook her head.

"Riley I can't face him." Maya said. Maya agreed to go out with Michael when she was still seventeen, but after she had turned eighteen a few months ago Josh told Maya that he loved her and wanted to be with her. Maya thought she was over Josh so she turned him down. Now she wasn't so sure.

"Maya you're going to have to talk to him someday. Why not now." Riley explained. Maya sighed and slowly nodded her head as she positioned her self to where she was sitting on her bed with her back leaned on the back board. Riley walked over and opened the window to let Josh in.

"Thanks Riles." He whispered to her as he climbed through into Maya's room. Riley smiled at him and smiled bigger as she watched Josh look over at Maya with so much love.

"I'm going to go and let you two be alone." Riley mumbled as she walked out of the room. Maya watched her best friend back out of the room while Josh didn't take his eyes off of Maya. After Riley was completely out of the room and the door was closed, Josh cleared his throat and made his way over to Maya to sit down on the foot of her bed.

"I heard what happened. Riley told me. Are you okay?" He asked genuinely concerned for her. Maya looked at him and nodded her head silently, not trusting herself to speak. "Do you want to talk about it?" Josh asked her awkwardly and Maya scoffed.

"Josh whatever you're here to say just say it. I don't really feel like playing games right now." Maya snapped as she wiped some more tears that had snuck their way down her face. Josh dropped his act and looked at her with so much passion and heartache in his eyes.

"He's a jerk, Maya. If he doesn't have the decency and respect you enough to tell you that he found someone else rather then to go out and cheat, then he isn't much of a man to begin with." Josh started speaking softly making Maya give him a half smile. The just like that her smile vanished as she reminded her self of something.

"I hurt you, Josh. You told me you loved me and I turned you down because I was trying to be faithful to him. I should have never been with him in the first place." Maya spoke as she looked down at her hands and fiddled with her fingers.

"Yeah that kind of hurt." Josh said nodded his head. "But seeing you like this hurts even more." He finished making Maya look up at him. "Just because I'm going through some heartache of my own, doesn't mean that I won't be here for you Maya if you need to cry." Josh whispered. "We're still friends." Maya's bottom lip started to tremble making Josh immediately get up from his spot and sit beside her on the bed.

"I didn't think it would hurt this bad." Maya sobbed as Josh put his arms around her. Maya sobbed into Josh's chest as he rubbed her back and ran his hand through her hair. "I really liked him and I thought he really liked me too. I guess I'm just to much of an idiot to see that." Maya sobbed even more making Josh shake his head.

"You are not an idiot, Maya. He's the idiot. He played you, lead you on to believe that you two were really something. He's the one that should be hurting right now not you." Josh spoke as he started to get angry again. Maya clutched on to Josh's shirt.

"I should have listened to you. I should have listened to everyone. But instead I was so caught up in the thought of getting over..." Maya stopped herself and trailed off not really wanting to finish that sentence.

"Get over me?" Josh asked although he already knew the answer. Maya sighed and pulled away from Josh so she could look at him.

"I was so tired of being too young. I didn't want to be hurt anymore I just wanted to try and see if I could get over you. And I thought I did, but after all this happened with Michael, I don't know what I want anymore." Maya sad as she looked him deeply in his eyes. Josh swallowed hard.

"My feelings for you haven't changed in the slightest, In fact after seeing you with Michael I think that they have increased." Josh admitted making Maya nervous. "But you did just get over a pretty nasty break up, and I don't want to be a rebound. I think that we need to give it some time and try again later." Josh said sadly.

Normally this would make Maya angry that she has to wait longer to be with Josh and their someday. But instead sage understood, she understood that she needed to give herself time to move on from Michael. Her relationship with Josh would never work if she was trying it out while getting over somebody else. Besides, she thinks it would do her some good to be by herself for a while. Maya nodded her head and smiled sadly at Josh.

"Someday?" Josh asked as he held out his hand to her like he did at the ski lodge all those years ago. Maya chuckled and took his hand in hers.

"Someday."
