19. An Act Long Overdue

Wei Chang Feng took Qi Le An to the guest bedroom, the one next door to his own bedroom, “You know where the bathroom is, right? The new toiletries are in the drawer, just let me know if you need anything.”

With that Wei Chang Feng left Qi Le An’s bedroom so that Qi Le An could get ready for bed.

Qi Le An found the toiletries, he took a shower and felt so grateful, Wei Sama was so thoughtful and considerate. He walked to the living room after the shower where Wei Chang Feng was talking to someone on the phone, Wei Chang Feng smiled at him and hung up the phone.

“I’m flying to the States tomorrow morning, you just call the driver after you wake up, he will drive you back to your hotel.” Wei Chang Feng wrote down a phone number on a notepad and handed the number to Qi Le An.

Qi Le An said, “Wei Sama, thank you so much, but no need to trouble your driver.”

Wei Chang Feng smiled, “No worries, just have a good night’s sleep, tomorrow is another day.”

Qi Le An nodded and put the note into his pocket.

Qi Le An checked the time, it was ten o’clock already, but Sheng Chang'an was still working in the study. Wei Chang Feng knocked on the door and walked in, “I need to sleep early tonight, there’s food in the fridge if you are hungry later.”

Sheng Chang'an who was reading some financial statement raised his head and nodded, “Thanks, good night.”

Qi Le An noticed Sheng Chang'an was wearing a pair of reading glasses, he looked much more approachable than before with that pair of glasses.

Sheng Chang'an alighted on Qi Le An who was standing behind Wei Chang Feng, he nodded slightly and averted his eyes like Qi Le An weren’t in the room.

“Don’t stay up too late.” Wei Chang Feng added.

Sheng Chang'an adjusted his glasses and clicked the mouse gently. Wei Chang Feng shook his head and withdrew the study.

It dawned on Qi Le An that Wei Chang Feng was just a nice person, probably he was just nice and warm to everyone he knew!

Wei Chang Feng was being nice to him not because he was special or different, it was because Wei Chang Feng was a gentleman from sole to crown. That was a bitter pill for Qi Le An to swallow.

“An, good night.” Wei Chang Feng smiled brightly at Qi Le An, then he walked to his bedroom.

“Good night.” said Qi Le An, but all of a sudden, he was seized with an impulse and he shouted, “Wei Sama!”

Wei Chang Feng turned around and looked at him confusedly

“Nothing... nothing, good night.”

“You too, sleep well.”

Qi Le An shook his head and then walked back to his bedroom.

Qi Le An kept rolling in bed, he liked the smell of fresh sheets, they smelled like sunshine. Then Qi Le An stroked the white T-shirt Wei Chang Feng gave him, he couldn’t help but sniff the T-shirt like a groupie.

Qi Le An didn’t know that behavior could be interpreted as improper at that point, because all he could think was he should work harder and repay Wei Chang Feng’s kindness.

Qi Le An slept like a baby that night. He woke up at eight o’clock the next morning, it looked like both Wei Chang Feng and Sheng Chang'an weren’t home. The doors of all the rooms were open except the one of the study, the sunlight made everything in the house looked even prettier.

Qi Le An noticed Wei Chang Feng had prepared him breakfast as well, he had even left a note: Don’t leave my house with an empty stomach :)

Qi Le An imagined Wei Chang Feng’s tone in his mind and he was amused, he dived into the breakfast after he called the driver.

Qi Le An took one more look at Wei Chang Feng’s house before he went downstairs to meet the driver. However, someone walked out of the study after Qi Le An had left, it was Sheng Chang'an, he took a look at the gate and walked back to his own bedroom... ...

Qi Le An turned on his phone when he got in the car, he rubbed his face with a sneer, the good news was his face was no longer swollen. Soon that arrived at the hotel, Qi Le An scratched his hair to make it look messy before he said thanks to the driver and walked out of the car.

Qi Le An walked into the hotel, everyone looked so busy, it seemed like no one remembered the farce that had taken place in the lobby the day before, let alone he was the victim of that farce.

Qi Le An was so torn when he walked in the hallway, ‘Should I go to my room directly or go visit Mr. Li first?’

Qi Le An decided he should see Mr. Li first, he knocked on Mr. Li’s door and showed a sad face when Mr. Li opened the door.

“An?” Mr. Li looked pleasantly surprised at first, then his face darkened, “Where have you been?”

Qi Le An didn’t say anything, he waited until tears brimmed in his eyes before he raised his head.

“You just ran away like that? I thought you have gone to Hai City without us!” Mr. Li added.

Yan Lang who had heard the noise now walked out from the room next door, he looked at Qi Le An with disdain, “Look who is back!”

To Qi Le An’s surprise, Mr. Li rebuked Yan Lang, “Quiet!”

Yan Lang shot Qi Le An a look indignantly.

Mr. Li now had regained composure, he looked at Qi Le An and said, “I’m glad you are safe and sound, I was drunk yesterday, I’m sorry I did that to you. But you shouldn’t have run away and turned off your phone like that, me and Yan Lang have both been worried sick. All right, let’s forget about it and make peace.”

Qi Le An sneered in his heart, he knew he had to accept this outcome.

“It’s my fault,” Qi Le An said, “Mr. Li, you were just being strict to me for my own good.”

Mr. Li nodded with satisfaction, he looked at Qi Le An with a smile and his tone became more gentle, “All right, let’s not mention it any more. I’m just glad you are back, come on now, go back to your room and start packing, we are leaving soon.”

Qi Le An and Yan Lang went back to their room together, it didn’t take Qi Le An long to pack, Yan Lang would just glare at Qi Le An and sneer at him from time to time, he decided to show his true colors to Qi Le An.

On the plane, Qi Le An kept thinking about what had happened in the past two days, it felt like a dream! But he was glad that he ran away last night, that brave act of defiance was long overdue. He knew he had offended Mr. Li by doing that, but he was confident about his future.
