"I give up." I huffed, slamming the last drawer for the second time. "There's nothing to use."
"Are you sure Kari's old room doesn't have any notebooks?" Alex asked, standing by me.
"They're all either drawn or written in or too small."
"How big does this need to be?!"
"Normal paper size."
"And you double checked...correct?"
"Did you not just see me go through everything again..?"
"O-okay. I get it. Why don't you write it on yourself or something?"
"Doesn't that like infect your blood stream or something?"
"No...yes...maybe..?"
"You aren't helping."
I shut my eyes, holding my head back in an attempt to think of something to do aside from searching everything again, since that obviously failed. I truly just wanted Kari and her mom to come back at this point, but I didn't want to be without something to wear either.
"How long have they been gone?" I questioned, throwing my head forward.
"I dunno." Alex sighed. "Maybe a few hours."
"Is that normal?"
"I don't know that either. Why?"
I bit my lip, debating whether to tell her the truth, but I knew it wouldn't matter either way.
"I guess I just miss their company...why else?"
