Skie's expression was unable to be read as her jaw dropped.
"What happened?" I asked, nudging her side. "Is she oka-"
"Language!" I heard her mom yell through the speaker of the phone.
"Sorry." She muttered, rolling her eyes. "Anyway, why did he give you so much fu- I mean, freaking money?"
"That sneaky bastard." I mouthed, biting my lip. "Bribery."
"What, Kari?" She asked, tilting the phone downward and covering the microphone. "He gave my mom a million-fucking-dollars. Since when is your family a fucking royal one?"
"Uhh-" I mumbled, trying to find the right words to explain the situation. "I think he owns this big corporation in Japan...ya know, the whole point why he was there before I ran away?"
"Oh. Makes sense." She responded, seemingly pleased as she put the phone back to her ear. "Sorry, she asked who I was talking to."
"Pfft, liar."
"Shut up." She whispered, glaring at me.
"Alright, sorry."
I sighed, looking over to Alex in an attempt to distract myself.
"Oi." I grunted. "Entertain me."
"So you want me to rape you?" She questioned, grinning.
"N-no! Not like that! Just start a general conversation with me."
"Okay..? About what."
"I don't know! Anything!"
"How about our similar interests?"
"As in?"
"Skie..?"
