Newt- Kiss already!

"Y/N!"

I jumped up from my bed in panick.

"What?" I asked worried " what's going on!"

"There is a huge spider in my room!" Said Thomas.

"You woke me up for that?"

"Please,please,please get rid of it!" He begged.

"So you can go in the maze and party with the grievers but you're scared of a spider?" I asked.

"Just Get it out!"

"No!"

"Why not!"

He looked at me and held back a smirk.

"You're scared of spiders" he said.

"I am not!" I protested.

"You are!"

"They creep me out ok!" I said " go ask someone else to get rid of it!"

"I'm evacuating my room until it's gone" he said.

"Ok well leave then so I can sleep" I started to get back into bed.

"Nope!" He grabbed me.

"Hey!"

He dragged me outside of my hut and pulled me with him.

"You are not leaving me to work alone today!" He said.

"But you're a runner you slinthead!"

"I'm not running today" he smirked " I'm working in the gardens."

Realisation hit me. Oh no he did not. He is just trying to get me closer to Newt because he knows I have a crush on him.

"Shuck no Thomas!" I said trying to run away.

He grabbed my arm and pulled me back to his side.

"Come on Y/n you need to talk to him" he said.

"I don't" I said.

"He won't want to date you if you don't talk to him!"

"That's fine by me" I said.

"Erm, isn't that the point of liking someone? To want to date them?" He asked.

"Yeah, well, I prefer to just watch him from a safe distance"

"So stalking him?"

"No!"

"Oh look" he pointed to the gardens "Newt's shirtless!"

"Wait what!" I got excited "hold up... I'm not falling for that"

"Worth a try" he shrugged.

Thomas managed to drag me to the gardens. Its was sooo awkward. I didn't speak to Newt once. I tried not to even look at him.

Newts pov

I waved Minho and the other runners goodbye as they ran off into the depth of the Maze. I spotted Thomas making his way towards me.

"Hey Tommy" I said.

"Hey Newt" he said " can I talk to you?"

"Ovcourse" I said.

"So you know how I'm not running today and I'm working in the gardens?"

"Yeah"

"You mind if I bring Y/n along to?"

I knew exactly what he was trying to do. I've had a crush on Y/n since she came up the box and Tommy knew it. He was just trying to get me closer to her. But I wasn't letting him get away with it.

" she's a medjack Thomas" I said.

" I know but there isn't really many injuries often and she is kind of bored doing nothing" he said.

"Thomas I know what you're..."

"For shucks sake Newt you have to talk to her!" He interrupted.

"No"

"Yes you do" he walked away.

When he was about halfway away her turned around and shouted.

"She's working in the gardens weather you like it or not!"

Y/n pov

I sat with my drink next to the fire. The day had turned to night and a lot of the gladers had went to bed but there were a few of us still up.

Newt came and sat next me but I didn't acknowledge him. We sat quietly for a little while before he said something.

"Have you ever liked someone before but were to scared to say anything?" He asked.

"All the time" I answered.

"Same"

After that the silence was so loud. It was like it was all sucked out.

From a distance ( not really that far) I noticed Thomas watching us.

He slapped his hand against his forehead and shouted loud enough for the whole glade to hear.

"YOU'RE IDIOTS! OH MY GOD JUST KISS ALREADY!"

I emptied the last of my drink by pouring it into the grass and quickly got up to go to my hut.

Just before I got there I heard Newt call my name.

"Y/n wait!"

I turned around and before I could even say anything he attached his lips to mine. I got lost in the feeling that I had imagined in my head for so long. Only this time, it was real.

He broke it off and rested his forehead on mine, intertwining our hands.

"I like you" he said.

"ABOUT SHUCKING TIME!" Thomas shouted.
