Chapter 138: The Quarantine Period and Hyun Bin's Birthday

lol, I think Jordan has been a trial for all of us. I'm so glad we have the confirmation before I started writing this part. I haven't really thought through the content for the next phase yet so any suggestions are welcomed! (the only ones in my mind now are YJ's Japan fan meeting and HB's note interview with Japanese press 😅)

12th September 2020: Start of Quarantine

Once inside the apartment, Hyun Bin heaved a sigh of relief. Finally, he was home.

He took off his shoes and despite his tiredness, he grinned. First of Ye-Jin's touches around their home stared at him - she had neatly laid out his home slippers on the step, ready for him to slip on.

He stepped into the living area and his smile widened. There was a new addition there that looked endearingly familiar.

Ye-Jin had created a makeshift photo line, modeled after the one he had created when he proposed to her. Instead of fairy lights, she had decorated with balloons. He stared at the huge "Welcome Home", "I 💕 You" and "Yeah! Finally!" helium balloons and laughed. Her message was loud and clear and it warmed his heart.

He walked closer. There must be at least fifty photo cards hanging on the line. He picked the first one. It was a message:

Welcome home, Tae-Pyung! 💕 I can't find words to describe how much I miss you. Even if I can't be with you now, I'm still so so so happy because you're safely home.

This is a small welcome home surprise for you! I figured you would want to know how I spent the last two months, so I took a picture every day to show you. This can help entertain you for the next two weeks! I'm sure you're going to be bored. 😝

You'll see that I didn't try to hide when I was sad. I promised you I won't be sad by myself while you were away. (A/N: Chapter 128) I kept my promise - not because I wasn't sad but because I was not alone. You were with me every single time.

I expect a reward for keeping my promise... I'm waiting for my presents!

Hyun Bin was by nature disciplined and he moderated his emotions within a narrow bandwidth. He didn't get too excited, too upset, too disappointed or too touched. He certainly didn't cry easily.

But as he looked at Ye-Jin's little "present", his heart clenched and tears welled up in his eyes.

He was touched and humbled by her boundless love.

Many of Hyun Bin's friends and acquaintances suspected that he was dating Ye-Jin. He had been amused by their one common comment - how he seemed to love her more. He was always staring at her, looking out for her surroundings and seemingly protecting her with his entire being.

He was tickled by their wide-off-the-mark conclusions! Ye-Jin loved him just as much, if not more. He had thought about it and deduced this - whilst ironic, the contradiction in their public images and personalities likely caused this misperception.
