634: "I know I was furious with you, but not everyone can say their partner asked for their forgiveness during a live TV interview."

After your ex boyfriend, Pierre's successful 2021 season, you left Abu Dhabi being unable to wait for the next season, being unable to wait for Pierre to make you swelter with pride once again. However, when the off season began, it quickly became clear to you that things weren't going to be as rosy as you were expecting since Pierre was spending way too much time at the Alpha Tauri factory and not having any time at all for you. You understood that of course he needed a high level of dedication, but you knew that was no excuse for him completely cutting you out of his life. It had gotten to the point where he stopped returning your calls and texts after promising to do so,t he two of you saying little other to each other apart from 'good morning and goodnight'. Your countless arguments about how abandoned you felt soon lead to your breakup and even though you were enraged with him, you were still currently sitting watching his race on the Sunday of the Bahrain Grand Prix, your love for him still not fading in the slightest and your eyes being as glued to his car as ever.

Since F1 was your greatest passion and you wren's interested in it solely for Pierre, you continued to watch post race after Pierre had got yet another amazing finish. For a short while, you even managed to forget about him as you watched drivers being interviewed in the media pen, but he was brought back to the forefront of your mind once he was being interviewed. You fixated on every word as he spoke about what an amazing job his team had done to allow him to finish in P6, but as he spoke, you couldn't help but notice his lack of enthusiasm and that there was no excitable glint in his eyes, the interviewer soon realising this as well.

"You say that you're ecstatic about your performance this weekend, but is that really the case, Pierre?" The interviewer asked him sceptically as he raised his eyebrows, "You don't sound too pleased, so are you thinking that Alpha Tauri have made a massive step forward and are capable of even higher results?"

"As I've said, I'm very happy with my performance this evening, but I do have a personal life outside of racing and there are things going on that aren't making me feel the best, but I'd rather not get into them," Pierre softly admitted, not wanting to say too much in case anyone thought he was attention seeking.

However, the interviewer was persistent, insisting that the fans would be far more interested in what was going on in his personal life because of how limited their knowledge about it was.

"The truth is, I still haven't gotten over my breakup over the off season," Pierre confessed with sorrow, causing your mouth to hang slightly agape because you never for a second thought that you would hear your name being mentioned throughout the weekend. "I was so focused on racing that I wasn't giving my girlfriend any of my time. I completely shut her out and it got to the point where we were arguing all of the time because of how defensive I was becoming, trying to find excuses for my behaviour, but now that I've got this out into the open, I want to take this as the perfect opportunity to finally apologise to you, Y/N. I know you love F1 almost as much as I do, so I know you'll be watching and if you are, I really hope you can somehow forgive me and allow me to make things up to you because you have no idea how much I love you, no idea how impossible it is for me to get you out of my head and t would mean everything to me if maybe you could give me a second chance."

Pierre's voice cracked slightly as he spoke his final few words whilst tears welled up in his eyes and it was because of this, that he rushed away from the camera before the interviewer was able to respond to him. You immediately turned the TV off so you could concentrate on your thoughts and once you had, your heart started to race since you had been remained of Pierre's sweet sides, reminded of just how much he was always able to make your heart melt. A broad smile spread across your lips as you were unable to contain your excitement because all you had been wanting from Pierre was an apology and because of the sincerity in his voice, you knew that he was willing to change and that things were going to be different.

The next few hours dragged on for you as you waited to ring him, to finally hear his voice after two months, but you knew you needed to wait a few hours before his interviews and debriefs would be finished. Once you had decided that he must surely be free by now, you didn't hesitate to call him, but whilst you were waiting for him to answer, you couldn't help but feel surprisingly nervous. Just as your heart was beginning to sink, you feeling as though he didn't want to talk to you because of how long the phone had been ringing, you let out a sigh of relief under your breath as his voice filled your ears.

"Y/N?" He asked with surprise, but also with the most joy which you have ever heard. "You're one person who I definitely didn't expect to hear from, not that I'm complaining."

"I heard your interview. I heard everything you said and to hear how sorry you are is all I wanted," you replied warmly as a broad smile spread across your lips as hearing his vice made you realise just how much you had missed Pierre. "How about you come home tomorrow? And I don't just mean come back to the country, I mean come home with me, where you belong. The bed has been very cold without you laying beside me."

There was a small pause before Pierre responded to you because of how astounded he was that those words were leaving your lips. After a few moments, you were about to apologise, tell him that you completely understood if it wasn't what he wanted, but his lips were the first to part.

"You've got no idea how much I've been wanting you to say that, but I thought you'd never want to speak to me ever again. I thought things were truly over for us," Pierre replied nervously, being unable to feel fully at ease until he had heard your reassurance.

"I know I was furious with you, but not everyone can say their partner asked for their forgiveness during a live TV interview," you said warmly as your pupils dilated with hope that Pierre would agree to your suggestion. "I've realised that we all make mistakes and there;s no reason why I shouldn't give you a second chance. There's nothing I want more than for you to come home, so will you?"

Pierre didn't hesitate to agree to this and it felt like an eternity to you both until he was finally coming through the front door. Once he had, he rushed to let go of his cases and fling his arms tightly around you. He asked you to become official for the second time right there and you may not have known at the time, but that was the final time that you would ever be asked that question because of how Pierre had changed his behaviour, continuously proving to you that you were the love of his life, never failing to remind you that he intended on spending the rest of his life with you.
