'Oh my god Tony that's so funny!' Wanda laughs loudly making you wince.

You fiddle with your fingers, you're trying to ignore the loud sounds around you. Your body can't handle the loud noises and the amount of people here. And the worst part? Nobody notices. Or so you think. Because Steve, being the one who notices everything, surely notices something is going on with you.

But he doesn't know how to approach you about it, you're not that eager on making contact, you prefer to work alone. You're a good avenger so nobody ever had anything against it.

So that's when he started digging, he knew he shouldn't have, but what he found out honestly didn't shock him.

You have all the signs leading to that diagnoses. Autism. You preferably work alone, you avoid eye contact and you aren't keen on people being spontaneous with you. You don't like to be touched and you do have trouble reading people's emotions.

Most people would just label you as quiet and reserved but now Steve knows better. And he feels like the worst friend ever.

You get up and storm off, suddenly everyone gets quiet. 'Oh so now you want to watch your volume...' Steve mutters.

'And what's that supposed to mean?' Tony shoots back.

'Tony... you really don't see it do you? Y/n's behaviour?'

'Uhm No Steve... I don't have this huge crush on her like you do...' Tony smirks.

'She has autism...' Steve ignores Tony. 'What?' Natasha asks confused.

'She diverts her eyes, she hates spontaneousness, she likes to work alone and she is incredibly organised to the point you're actually planning her by moving things slightly.. and honestly it's not even that funny...'

'Well if she can't handle it why doesn't she just say anything?'

'Because communication isn't her strongest suit..'

After that small talk, everything changed with the avengers, they started to be quieter when sitting together, they stopped moving things around to annoy you. They started caring for you.

And it made you crawl out of that shell a little. You always have been afraid to do that with people, you tried but got shut down by everyone in your life, except for the avengers.  But the biggest gesture was about to be made by none other than your crush.

Its late at night, you can't sleep. Which is also common for people with autism (I honestly didn't know this, I learn so much).

You decide to go out to the living area, it's got to be dead silent around this time at night, which is perfect for you to go an make yourself some well deserved tea.

You walk into the kitchen and make yourself some tea first, you're still half asleep, which is pretty weird considering you could hardly sleep a couple minutes ago.

You at first don't notice the box on the table with a note attached to it, but as soon as you have your cup and you're heading towards the couch, you finally spot it.

You frown as you put your cup down next to the box. On a coaster of course, What are You? In a bead and breakfast for a biker gang?

You take the note from the box, your curiosity killing you on the inside.

For Y/n...

We know we won't probably be there to give this to you personally, you like silence and we are from silent. I figured you'd appreciate it more if I would just leave it for you to open at your own time. Which I think will be in the middle of the night.

I want you to know that you don't have to hide who you are, Autism isn't a dealbreaker for us, we still adore you, because you're creative, you're smart and you help things stay organised, which we appreciate a lot.

The team knows, that's why we started to act somewhat different, we want you to feel good around us. And we noticed you opened up more, like I said we adore you.

Even though we've all come a long way, I want you to have this. Just because maybe you'll join us more if you use it. It makes us less loud.

You smile at the note before you take the box onto your lap. You lift the cover and take off the paper covering the gift.

You can't help but laugh at the gift inside of it. It certainly will quiet them down.

Your fingers run over the noise cancelling headphones, probably courtesy of Tony Stark. It screams Stark Tech. You put it over your ears.

'Welcome Y/n... what would you like me to use for you?'

'What options do you have?' You reply. Talking to an AI always has been easier, to most people it would make you appear normal almost.

'Noise cancelling, playing music and many more features...'

'Steve, You're amazing..' you sigh softly.

He smiles at you from the doorframe. His arms crossed and a soft look on his face. He knew you'd like it.

'You're welcome..' he whispers as he turns and walks away with a satisfied feeling.

Of course you don't hear him, those headphones sure do their job, you're kor going to sleep anytime soon, but now for a completely different reason.
