Imagine: you and Steve are best friends and you're secretly in love with him, but lately he has been spending a lot of time with Sharon.

'Are you excited about tomorrow?' You plop on the couch next to Steve just as he frowns.

'Y/n I'm so sorry... I totally forgot... I already have plans tomorrow evening... is it okay if we go another day?'

Your excitement turns into disappointment. You try to hide it because it's clearly more important, else he wouldn't cancel on the one evening of the year you two share together for over six years now.

'Oh yeah, it's okay, must be important...' you try to keep the mood light even though you're breaking on the inside.

'Yeah it is actually... I mean why else would I cancel right?'

'Yeah yeah...' you reply before he reaches for his phone.

'I have to go...I'll talk to you later about the raincheck of the dinner...' he smiles at you as he gets up.

'Sounds good...' you reply before watching him walk away, right into the arms of Sharon.

Because lately Sharon is Steve's whole world, and it honestly makes you jealous. It used to be just you and Steve. Doing stuff together as friends.

And Sharon joined about two years after, and now its like Steve is obsessed with her. He cancels every plan you two have to hang out with her.

But he wouldn't cancel on tonight for her right?, no that wouldn't be like Steve at all. Something this important...

Its the day he rescued you from cryo, it marks the 7th year you've been hydra free and an avenger at that. every year you and Steve go out to eat and take a nice long walk around New York.

You fell in love the day he got you out of there, how could you not?, he was funny and kind. He didn't judge you for the time in hydra and he was always there for you. Was.

But like you said before, he has been navigating towards Sharon which equals navigating yourself off of a cliff really.

'Y/n?' Nat asks trying to grab your attention by waving a hand in front of your face.

'What?, what?, Yeah what's up Nat?' You blurt our trying time cover your tracks.

'Fine.. just a bit sad that my plans with Steve got cancelled... it's our annual thing so...'

'And then to think he'd drop that to go out with Sharon I mean...' Nat sighs and your head whips towards him.

Natasha's eyes go wide for a second when she sees the hurt expression blossoming over your face. It's clear to her that what she just said is brand new information to you. Which means Steve tried to hide the fact that he ditched you for Sharon.
