"Could've been worse"

"And how's that?"

"It could've been red paint. I could've looked like a Weasley" I told Draco with a grin as we started laughing and I led him into the living room as he went over to the fireplace before stopping and searching his pockets

"Have you lost something?"

"No... I'm trying to find something"

"What are you trying to-?"

"Got it. Here" holding his hand out I took the letter from him with a slightly confused look as I glanced at him

"What is it?"

"Are you really asking that? It's a letter"

"Well I knew that-"

"Did you-?"

"Yes, now zip it. What's in it?"

"I'll let you find out. Read it later on" shaking my head amused I pocketed it with a smile while watching him glance around, a strange feeling starting to take over me as I offered a wave just before he disappeared as I turned around, watching Nadia walk in with her hand outstretched

"Give me that"

"Give you what?"

"That letter you slipped into your back pocket just now as Draco left"

"I don't have a letter-"

"Give me it" she cut over me before drawing her wand and flicking it, the letter flying from my back pocket and into her hand as she held it firmly. Reaching my hand out, I made a swipe for it as she pulled it away and a paranoid look grew on my face

"Mum, please-"

"Don't you 'mum' me. I didn't want to have to do this but you're making me: I want you to stay away from that Draco Malfoy, you hear?"

"But why?"

"I don't want you seeing him-"

"Draco's one of my closest friends-"

"I don't want you talking to him-"

"I don't understand"

"Just stay away-"

"I won't. You can't make me" I told her defiantly, standing my ground as I watched her raise her eyebrows at me before straightening up properly and tucking the letter away into her pocket as she looked at me

"Alright then, lady, I'll fix you. I'll get rid of him" she told me as a look of complete horror and shock crossed my face and she turned, leaving the living room and heading to the kitchen as I followed her, watching as she poured herself another glass of milk

"You wouldn't"

"I would in a minute-"

"You'd do that to one of my friends?"

"I would. Jumped up wee piece of nothing thinks because he's a pureblood he can look at you? Him?"

"You wouldn't do this to Holly! Or to Oscar! So what makes me any different?" I asked angrily as she set her empty glass down loudly, turning around to stare at me as her face started to become slightly pink

"The difference is that I know the people your brother and sister are friends with. I don't know the people you put your trust in. You'll thank me for it one day. You think I brought you up for you to throw yourself away on the likes of him?"

"I honestly can't believe you. I can't believe you're saying this- you never brought me up: I brought myself up, I looked after myself while you coddled the other two. You've changed far too much-" I told her quietly as she shook her head, her lip slowly starting to curl

"I've just opened my eyes, that's all"

"I'm going to speak to Nathan-"

"No you're not, Amelia. You're staying here and packing for going to the burrow. I'm going to speak to your father about this. I'm going to show him this. He'll sort you out" she cut over me as I whipped around, slamming the kitchen door before vanishing up the stairs with my hands glowing bright white as I disappeared into my room, snapping my door shut loudly.
