Opening my eyes I was met with a small and soft hoot, turning my head slightly I looked at the eagle owl sitting patiently on top of a parcel, letting out another low hoot to get my attention as I forced myself up into a sitting position, grimacing in agony as I eventually propped myself up against the pillow, breathing slowly and heavily as I tried to push past the pain as I clamped my eyes shut tight. Opening them again when a weight landed on my legs, the owl having fluttered over with the parcel as I peered at him curiously, slowly recognising him as I smiled and raised my hand, gently patting down his feathers, his large orange eyes staring into my own before he started tapping his feet impatiently, giving my hand a nudge before flying off again through an open window in the top corner of the hospital wing. Looking back at the box I flicked my wand as the strings holding it shut came undone and I carefully lifted the lid off, a smile getting the better of me as I looked at the Slytherin quidditch jumper sitting there folded up as I lifted it out before pulling it on, a familiar smell of a slightly sweet cologne meeting my nose as I cuddled up in it and pulled out the small slip of parchment

His name is Ulysses

Smiling amused I reached in and took out another small little box before prying the lid off, dropping it in shock when something flew out at me. Looking up in awe I watched as the Limenitis arthemis flew away from me, it's wings bright in the winter sunlight before disappearing while I looked in the box, smiling fondly before gently picking out the blue lotus that sat there delicately as I admired it before carefully putting it back in its box a little later, sitting with it on my lap with the little note tucked inside while I flicked my wand and the large empty box disappeared. Remembering about the letter I pulled it from the pocket of my hoodie, ripping open the envelope and turning it upside down as I watched multiple pieces of parchment fall out onto the bed, slowly reading through the little notes and letters from Daphne, Pansy, Millicent, Blaise, Draco, Miles, Adrian, Aaron and Fleur I pressed my lips together tightly, my heart aching as my cheeks soon became stained with tears as I realised how much I'd truly missed them all. Wiping my face when the curtain around my bed moved I gave a small smile as Hermione waved at me happily while I started piling the notes together and set them to the side as she sat at the end of my bed as she grabbed the whiteboard from the floor and gave it to me grinning

"Guess what?"

What?

"I brought you some books" she told me ecstatically, a grin growing across my face as she reached into her bag and pulled out a couple of books for me, setting them down in front of me as she spread them out so I could see them all

You're a gem

"I thought you'd be pleased" she laughed as I nodded happily, trying to push myself up as I sat a little straighter, breathing out slowly while I opened my eyes from pain as she offered a smile and motioned to my face

"That's some impressive charm work you've got going on here"

Child's play

"Oh sorry" she scoffed laughing as I grinned at her, it dropping into a smile when my muscles started becoming sore and I blinked heavily, not realising how tired I'd became

"Can I ask you something? You don't have to tell me if you don't want to"

Go for it

"How come you aren't letting anybody else in? Anybody outside in the hall I mean..."

I don't want them seeing

"But what about with the charm?"

I still know what I look like and part of me is terrified that they can somehow see me like that

"Oh Amelia..."

Hermione, everything I was scared of happening... happened. I don't want them to see that

Showing her the board she nodded in understanding before apologising for asking as I waved her off, letting the hours pass as we spoke with each other before she left for dinner and I laid down to take a nap. Opening my eyes awhile later I blinked, the hospital wing dark while an eerie feeling swept over me. Turning my head I looked about, squinting as I looked at who was in the chair, blinking heavily as I watched confused while they stood up, the weak light from a lamp on the opposite end of the wing being the only source of light as the bed sank down next to me, feeling my eyes fill with tears and my stomach drop as I shook my head furiously, trying to move away off the bed as my wrists were grabbed tightly.
