106. We're in Love With Death

Lee came to visit Eve and she was nervous. She knew Eve didn't remember her. Ville opened the door for her, she came early, to have breakfast with them.

"Moi, Ville. How are things?"

"Doing fine. She's in the kitchen. I feel she's a bit nervous, just be patient with her."

"Sure, you don't even have to ask me. And I am fucking nervous as well."

They both went to the kitchen, Charlie was on her stroller. Eve looked at Lee, fixing their breakfast. She smiled. "Hi."

"Hi, Eve." It was a bit awkward, they hugged each other but there was a distance between them. "Sit, please. Oh, this is Charlotte."

Lee melted. She have seen her on the hospital, but she was different now. "Oh my god, she's so beautiful! She's so big already."

"Do you wanna hold her?" Ville asked, grabbing Charlie. Leena nodded, sitting to accommodate Charlie in her arms. Eve was looking at them, trying to remember something about Lee, but her mind was blank. For her, she was a completely stranger.

"I hope you don't get offended I don't remember you." Eve said a bit sad, sitting next to Lee. Ville looked worried, but he felt sad for her. Lee smiled, gently. "Don't worry, Eve. I'm sure we will be friends again in a blink."

And she was right. Lee spoked about her and how they ended up being roommates. Eve asked her to share stories, Lee remembered when Eve came from the café telling she had met an interesting guy and he was Ville, who smiled widely while his cheeks were turning red. He haven't heard that story before. Eve realized they were truly confidents. Lee told her how Eve was gorgeous and nervous at her wedding day. She focused on good things, of course. "You were the most beautiful bride I've ever seen. I swear, it's not because I was the bridesmaid."

"I saw pictures. You were so beautiful. Thank for being by my side in such a special day."

"It was a pleasure. I was sure you would marry Ville one day. You two belonged together."

Lee promised to visit her regularly and Ville said it was a great idea. Eve loved to "meet" Lee, and she continued revisiting people, when she finally went to the Uni.

Ville was with her, Charlie on the stroller. People from the department came to greet her, happy to see her there. They knew about her memory loss, but her story was well known and so touching, people didn't mind if she had that blank face, they were happy to see her. Henrik was there to support her. She felt relieved to see a known face.

They went to Dr. Virtanen's office first. She got emotional and cried, hugging Eve. "You don't know how much I'm happy to see you here. I know you don't know who I am, but I know will remember everything."

Eve was glad to meet that lady with white, short hair. She cried, too, even though she didn't remember her. Dr. Virtanen was very elegant, tall and skinny, and seemed a wonderful person. "Thank you, I'm happy to be here."

They talked about practical things, such as her licence. Eve was scared to come back, if she was going to. She was undecided. "If you want to visit work, just to see if you still have the practice, feel free to do it."

Ville thought about it, if Eve would remember what happened there. He wasn't sure if it was a good idea, Henrik had the same thought, they eyed each other.

"Sure, I would love to."

And she understood why Henrik called Dr. Karlsson a bitch. She really was. She barely looked at Charlotte, she didn't ask much how was Eve's health, she was very practical. She said Eve could came back even earlier, if she wanted. Ville made a face, he didn't know how to hide his feelings very well.
