Maddie Buckley

You stood in the boxing ring, leant back against the ropes.

"Do you have time for another round ?" Maddie's voice causing you to turn and face her.

"I've got an hour to kill" You tighten the boxing gloves on your hands.

Maddie puts on a glove but she appears to be struggling with the other.

"Let me help" You easily slide off one of your gloves.

She nodded sheepishly, embarrassed by what was happening.

You took her hands in yours and tighten the gloves for her, helping her to get the one she was struggling with on.

"Spar up, Buckley" You slip your gloves back on and get into position.

"This is kinda embarrassing but I don't .. understand how to spar up" She admits.

"Why are you so embarrassed by that ?" You make your way back over to her.

"Should I not be ?" Maddie questions as you're positioning her hands.

"Not really. If you've never boxed before then you wouldn't know how to anyway. Well, that and I'm a personal trainer for up and coming boxers" You explained to her.

"I've only ever boxed with Evan" Maddie informs you.

"He trained you well. It's a start that you know some of the basics" You take a step away from her.

Maddie took a shot aimed at your chest but you duck out of the way.

"Nice shot" You compliment making her raise an eyebrow in confusion.

"But I missed" Maddie sparred up again, preparing to take another shot.

"You might have missed your target but you didn't hesitate to take the open shot" You block her hand.

"Are you going easy on me ?" She throws a punch and hits you square in the jaw.

"Maybe a little" You spat the blood from your mouth out onto the floor. 

"Oh my God. I'm so sorry" Maddie stood directly infront of you.

You flip and move around the ring until you're stood directly behind.

Maddie gasped in shock at how quickly you'd been able to move.

You wrap one arm around her waist and trap her against your body.

"How do you think you're gonna get out of this ?" You enquired.

She elbowed you in the stomach causing you to double over.

Maddie swept you legs from underneath you and you fell back first onto the mat.

"Like that" Maddie straddled your waist to keep you down on the ground.

She held you hands above your head so that you couldn't get out of her grasp.

"That's my girl" You smiled up at her.

"Did I do it right ?" Maddie gets up from being ontop of you.

"You did it a fair bit more that right, you did it perfectly" You compliment her.

"Thank you" Maddie helped you back to your feet.

"Boom" She pretended to throw another shot at you.

"Have you got time for one more round or do you need to be somewhere ?" You question the brunette.

"I have to go. My shift starts in an hour" Maddie lied to you.

"Well, in that case, have a good day" You take her gloves off for her.

Doug grabbed Maddie by the upper arm when she'd left the gym.

"What did you tell that fucking personal trainer ?" He snarls at her.

"I didn't tell her anything" She defends.

"You better not be lying to me. Get your useless ass in the car" Doug unlocks the car for her.

Inside the gym, you crouch down to pick up a ripped piece of paper that you spot on the rings floor.

Help me. My husband is abusing me from Maddie Buckley.

You read the note with an expression of worry on your face.

2 days later ...

You're stood outside of Maddie's and her husband's shared house.

It was a cold winter's evening and snow was starting to fall from the clouds.

You'd found out Maddie's home address from the desk worker at the gym.

You took a single deep breathe, pulling out your phone.

The phone starts ringing and you're able to recognise the number instantly.

"Did you get me his name, Athena ?" You answer the phone.

"I'm not sure that you'll want to hear it" Athena scans through his file.

"Just tell me. I'll decide whether I should have kept my mouth shut or not" You're hand is on the doorhandle.

"Doug Kendall. Twelve charge of violent assault under his belt" She informs you.

"How is Doug not behind bars ?" You ask the police sergeant.

"I don't know but don't do anything that you normally would. I'm heading out to her place now" Athena ends the call.

You knocked on the front door, Maddie's the one who opens it.

"Hey. What are you doing here ?" She is hiding the fact that a cold, loaded gun is currently being pressed into her spine.

"I got your little note and I thought that I should come check up on you ... Are you okay ?" You rest a hand on her shoulder.

"Yeah, I'm fine" Maddie goes to close the door but you place your foot in the way.

Gunshots rang through their house and you knew that Doug had fired a warning shot.

Police sirens were heard from down the road and you hoped that it was Athena.

She made her way up to the front doors with her gun held out infront of her.

"I told you to stay home" Athena entered the house.

"You should have known that I wouldn't listen" You pull Maddie into you.

"Doug Kendall, you are under arrest for assault.Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law ....."
She cuffs Doug's hands behind his back.

"You'll pay for this you little bitch" Doug snarls at her.

"Fuck you" You snap back at him on her behalf.

"It's okay .. You're safe and he will never be able to cause you harm again" Your words are reassuring to her.

"Thank you, Y/N" She mumbles through  tears. 

"You deserved to be saved" You ran your hand soothingly through her hair.
