34 | Island Tour

Santorini, Greece

Seokhoon and Rona woke up early in the morning, the sun was up bright and early. They headed to have breakfast at the hotel before exploring the island. Seokhoon had booked an island tour for both of them, the tour was to last till about 2pm. Seokhoon and Rona had already explored Firostefani and Oia yesterday, their tour began from Monastery of Profitis Ilias.

The Monastery of Profitis Ilias was on Profitis Ilias, which is the highest hill in Santorini. The Monastery is a Greek Orthodox chapel. The couple got the chance to listen to the sounds of Byzantine music and get a taste of their hand-made products. From the very top of the hill, they were also able to have a perfect view of the sea. The sun was hot but the air was windy, it was the perfect day to be out exploring.

Their next stop was the Akrotiri Archaeological Site. Santorini, like Athens, is also home to its own ancient ruins: the site of Akrotiri, an ancient Minoan village that was buried by the island's colossal volcanic eruption. Greece was definitely a place worth learning about history. By the time they finished the archaeological site it was about 11am. The next stop was to visit the beaches of Santorini. The first beach that Seokhoon and Rona headed to was the Red Beach.It was as it's name suggest, the beach was covered red sand. The beach's surroundings contains various enormous volcanic rocks, the black and red pebbles and the sand of various colours, mainly red, compose a wild scenery that really looked strange.

Seokhoon and Rona spend about 30 minutes or so admiring the beach, playing a little bit in the ocean. They headed to a 2nd beach of the day - the Perissa Black Sand Beach. It was here that the couple did some horseback riding along the beautiful beach. Rona always loved animals and would love to have a pet. She always wanted to learn how to ride a horse, so seeing that there was an opportunity to ride a horse for the first time, Rona couldn't resist. The couple rode along the shores, admiring the sites and taking in the sea breeze. Soon their stomachs were starting to growl, so they were next going to head to their lunch stop.

Their last stop of the island tour for the day was the Santo Winery. Santorini has produced its own wine since ancient times, and sampling its varietals is the perfect way to get a taste of the island's history.The winery was on the top of the hill, standing or sitting on the terrace gave the couple a beautiful view of not just the ocean but the entire cityscape of Santorini. It was here that they tried some of the locally brewed wine couple with their lunch for the day.

After they had a lovely seafood meal with wine, their tour guide dropped them back at their hotel. Seokhoon and Rona washed up and rested for a bit, before heading back out again at around 4pm.
