chapter 08: Gifts

Wu Qianqing was surprised. He jumped out of his seat and asked excitedly, “are you sure? Are you sure that I can recover?”

Wu Ruo whispered, “father, lower your voice. You don’t want people to know that you can recover. Not even my brother and sister.”

If the Wu family knew it, they would try every way to stop his father to recover or even kill him before he even started to take medical treatment.

The worst part was that the Wu family was so excellent at playing nice in front his father and him. Whenever the Wu family got new fabric, they would send the best to them. And when there was good food, they would send some to them too. Now that he was about to find out who they really were, he had to look for evidences, otherwise, his parents and siblings wouldn’t believe the Wu family was a hypocritical family.

In the worst case of scenario, they might think that he was taking his anger out on the entire Wu family because of the marriage they arranged him.

“Why?” Wu Qianqing was confused.

It was good news to share. Why shouldn’t he tell anyone?

Wu Ruo lied, “Xuanyi doesn’t want to people know that he knows medical skills. So father, mother, can you keep it as a secret for now. When father is cured and there is no way to hide it, we can tell people.”

Wu Qianqing nodded.

It was not for sure if his power could be recovered. If he told other people but finally he failed to recover, it would bring bad reputation to his son-in-law.

“Brother and sister are coming back. I will ask more about Xuanyi’s diagnose later when I got home.”

“Thank you.” Wu Qianqing looked at Hei Xuanyi with gratitude in his eyes.

Thinking of the possibility that her husband could recover, Guan Tong was thrilled with joyful tears. Wu Ruo’s husband was not good-looking but very kind-hearted. As long as he was nice to Ruo, it didn’t matter that much even if he was not good-looking or powerful.

Very soon, Wu Zhu and Wu Xi came home.

They had have discussed about it. As a big brother, Wu Zhu would call Hei Xuanyi by his name, whereas Wu Xi was younger than Wu Ruo. Therefore, she should call him brother Yi.

Hei Xuanyi had no problem with it and ordered his men to bring in all the gifts he bought. The family hence watched loads of gifts to be carried in by an array of carts. Eventually the entire Shuqing Yard was filled with gifts.

When Wu Xu read the gift list, his hands were shaking because the items on it were either expensive medicine or weapons.

The Wu family regretted not to invite Hei Xuanyi to serve tea when they knew about this. How could they miss out such a great chance?

Wu Ruo was shocked as well when he saw the gifts no less than his betrothal gifts Hei Xuanyi got for him.

In last life, Hei Xuanyi didn’t send this many gifts. He had served tea and sent out one gift to each family member, and left right away.

Wu Ruo gave a look at Hei Xuanyi.

In last life, he might have annoyed the man on the same day, otherwise he wouldn’t have given so few gifts.

He never thought Hei Xuanyi could be angry someday. It turned out that he could but he didn’t show.

As he noticed his stare, Hei Xuanyi jerked his head and asked with his eyes.

Wu Ruo said as he saw the carts of gifts, “give me the betrothal gift list when we get home.”

He assumed that the Wu family might have pocketed some of his gifts, otherwise his betrothal gifts would be more than the gifts right now in the yard.
