chapter 15: Jade Life Slat

As soon as Wu Ruo got out of the bedroom, Hei Gan gave him the jade life slats that were connected with the corpse servants’ lives, and explained to him, “on the slats are their names. Those with only one character are low level servant; those with two are medium level. If some of them don’t listen to you, you can smash their life slats and make them disappear.”

Wu Da and Wu Xiao were mortified by Hei Gan. They had no idea of corpse servants but it was an evil thing to control people’s life.

Wu Ruo took the slats and stuffed them into his sleeve where there was a shadow space that no one else could find. And then he thanked Hei Gan sincerely, “thank you.”

Since Hei Xuanyi let him take in charge of the jade life slats, it suggested that he wouldn’t interfere with his life. Wu Ruo really appreciated that Hei Xuanyi didn’t mean to manipulate him.

“The low-level corpse servants can only do simple chores such as house cleaning. Medium servants are no different from normal person. They can do whatever you order them.” Hei Gan introduced the four medium corpse servants to Wu Ruo, “here they are, Shi Yi, Shi Yuan, Shi You, and Shi Jiu.”

“At your service, my lady.” The four servants bowed to Wu Ruo immediately.

“Right now, I need to take a bath and change my clothes.” Wu Ruo said.

Shi Yuan asked the low servants to prepare warm water.

After Wu Ruo finished, he was carried by low servants to the front yard and had breakfast with Hei Xuanyi.

He sat down by the table full of dishes and said, “what a breakfast!”

He used to have white steamed bread with white porridge, or green vegetables with white porridge, which was very simple for breakfast. Now there were a variety of cakes as fancy as imperial breakfast. Thanks to Hei Xuanyi, he had a chance to have such a breakfast.

It was a long list. There were various gifts on it. With just one simple glance, Wu Ruo could tell someone had taken a small amount of them. He hadn’t had noticed it because those gifts were not delivered to Shuqing Yard and also there were so many of them, too many to be noticed even though someone picked up some on the sly.

He put down the gift list expressionlessly. When he made sure that Wu Da and Wu Xiao were not nearby, he whispered to Shi Jiu, “go get two girls. They have to be good-looking and physically fit. And they have to know how to please men. And…”

He lowered his voice even more. Shijiu nodded along and left the house with the money Wu Ruo gave him.

Wu Ruo picked up the gift list and folded it up slowly bit by bit, as if he was warning himself not to get anxious and that he had to make a perfect plan to take revenge.

He put the folded list in his shadow space. Once he was done, Hei Xin walked in, “my lady, if you will excuse me, please move to the yard. We need to tear the wall down to make the bedroom and the other room as one room so that we can get a bigger bed for you.”
