chapter 25: Go back to Hei Mansion

Late that night, after everyone fell asleep, Wu Qianqing got up and took herbal bath. Wu Ruo sat by his side and recorded his reaction to the medicine and sometimes felt his pulse secretly to check if the medicine worked for him.

After four nights of treatment, he confirmed that his father’s spiritual land showed recovery. Finally he could be able to take a deep breath. Unfortunately, on the sixth morning after he returned Wu family, Hei Xin sent a message to him that Hei Xuanyi came back.

After Wu Ruo had breakfast, he left Shuqing Yard with the help of the servants. He ran into two cousins at the gate, one was Wu Shi, the little son of his second uncle Wu Qianbin and Wu Bai, the little son of his youngest uncle Wu Qiantong.

Wu Shi and Wu Bai were so excited to see Wu Ruo, “liu (sixth) ge.”

Wu Ruo was the sixth of the sons of the last generation. That was why cousins younger than him called him Liu Ge.

“Where have you been in such early morning?” asked Wu Ruo.

“We just got back from casino.” Wu Ruo was the younger one. He couldn’t keep his secret.

“Wu Bai, didn’t we promise not to say anything? If my father finds that I am off the casino and I take you with me, he will punish me.” Wu Shi was mad.

“Uncle doesn’t have the heart to punish you.” Wu Bai chuckled. 

“Don’t worry. I won’t tell on you. But casino is not a place to go. Don’t you ever go there.” Wu Ruo smiled.

“Liu Ge, Jiu (nineth) Ge and I only go there once in half a month.” Wu Bai argued.

“Come on, Wu Bai. Have you told everything yet?” Wu Shi rolled his eyes at Wu Bai.

Wu Bai felt embarrassed, “I am happy to share with Liu Ge because I win.”

Wu Ruo smiled but said nothing, nor asked them how much they won.

As he was afraid that Wu Bai would leak more of their secrets, Wu Shi dragged Wu Bai away and left.

Looking at the two kids who ran away, Wu Ruo’s smile got bigger, “casino is actually a good place, isn’t it?”

Shijiu and the others agreed, “yes.”

Wu Ruo jerked to get on the carriage and said to Shiyuan who helped him, “replace the driver after we go back.”

“Yes.”

Before Wu Ruo went back to Hei mansion, he paid a visit at Ruan family first and confirmed that Ruan Zhizheng still refused to see him. He thus went back to Hei family but saw a crow flying over and stopping on Shiyi’s shoulder as soon as he got off the carriage.

Shiyi took the small note off the crow’s feet, read it and destroyed it right after. When they got into the gate, he whispered, “my lady, Mr. Anrun has a day out to Xizha Theater with his friends tomorrow.”

As soon as Wu Ruo learned that Wu Anrun was about to get married, he sent Shiyi to pry Wu Anrun’s whereabouts. He needed to know when and where to Wu Anrun left North Yard.

He nodded, “go get ready, I will go to Xizha Theater tomorrow too.”

“Yes.”

Shiyi left the Hei Mansion.

At the moment, Hei Xin approached, “my lady, lord is waiting for you in the hall.”

“Waiting for me?” Wu Ruo frowned, “for what?”

“He came back with a person. He wants to introduce him to you.”

“Do you know whom?” Wu Ruo asked.

“No, I don’t.”

Wu Ruo kept walking into the hall and heard a loud laughter from the hall before he entered the hall, “kid, your house is so big. Are you planning to settle down here?”

Wu Ruo was surprised to hear the voice because it sounded so like his master Shifu.
